Spend a long weekend gliding along the lakes of Helvetinjärvi in Finland.
Look out for waterfalls, glaciers and glide through wild forest to reach all the landmarks of this national park from a different vantage point.
Carry your boat in your backpack, then inflate any time to roam lakes, reach dune beach, and witness the crevasse at Helvetinkolu up close.
Each night, you'll camp in a tent or out in the open, before ending your waterbound adventure in a traditional Finnish sauna.
The P l a n
You’ll be collected in Tampere city centre and transported to Lake Haukkajärvi. Prepare your camp for the night along this beautiful dune beach, enjoying dinner around the campfire as the sun sets.
After breakfast, you’ll be dropped off at Lake Kovero. Packraft along the lake and on through Luoma, Pitka Helvetinjärvi and Pieni Helvetinjärvi. After lunch, ramble to Lake Iso Ruokejärvi and its neighbouring forest. Swim the lake and set up shelter for the night.
From Iso Ruokejärvi, carry your raft to Helvetinkolu gorge. Pause at the view before rafting down lake Iso Helvetinjärvi. After lunch, you’ll carry your raft through small wild lakes then paddle down to Haukanhieta dune beach. Where you might even get chance to swim.
Take your time at breakfast before getting a lift back to Tampere. Where a warm sauna is waiting, and then dinner close to the station. From here you’ll get a transfer back to the airport.
